Name: Nusantara Ekaprana Teknogunakelola
August 29th, 2007 | Posted in: Foundation | Created by: Pico SenoI don’t know exactly who had the idea of Nusantara Ekaprana Teknogunakelola as our company name initially. It could be one of these three mas Guruh , Effendy Sadikin or Erwin Sudarsono who discussed the foundation of NET.
Yesterday, in order to deliver NET mission statement in our new profile which we will launch in the near future, I browse around seeking what is the name stands for.
- Nusantara: can be translated into archipelago, or sea containing many island which was stands for Indonesia. The largest archipelago in the world.
- Ekaprana: contained two words: Eka and Prana. Eka stands for singular or in another Hindi term could stands for ultimate. Prana stands for force or power. Then Ekaprana should has this meaning: “the ultimate force”
- Teknogunakelola: three words involved from Indonesian language. They are teknologi (technology), guna or kegunaan (use, useful), and kelola (manage, operate). This the most complicated than two words preceeding, and I intend to use my interpretation which sounds “technology use management”
My best conclusion of the meaning of Nusantara Ekaprana Teknogunakelola is:
“The Ultimate Force for Indonesia in Managing The Use of Technology”.
It still can be associated with other meaning locally like this one: Ultimate Force for Technology Utilisation Management in Indonesia (area scope limitation).
I once heard that the origin intention of composing those words is to form a beautiful acronym which is accomplished and we still enjoy the result. It sounds very simple: NET, and we do have beautiful domain: net.co.id.
This interpretation is very subjective and intentionally branding. If you happen to be a linguist who had expertise in Bahasa Indonesia and or English, please be kind to advise us in interpreting our company name.
